Keep in mind, the rules of the competition were pretty simple: for each round, contestants had to draw a minimum of two pages in two weeks, the comics had to feature both characters interacting (though not necessarily killing or even fighting each other), and for the first round there were no gimmicks or additional rules. For Round 1, I had not expected in any way to get immediately matched up with a kindly old dinobird auntie, and this significantly impacted Fei’s characterization from this point onward.
