A New Society
One of the things I had really put quite a lot of effort into codifying was how Fei’s Earth would handle Devils. In the greater KSBD lore, Devils are treated almost exclusively as trickster beings meant to be entrapped into contracts that they would almost inevitably try to break to gain greater power. I wanted to explore what might instead happen if a civilization viewed them more as artificial intelligences that had achieved sapience and integrate them into greater society rather than exploit them for labor.
I find your characterization of devils strange, like most things in KSBD they run on philosophy. They are the pure hot black flame, untempered lifeforce, the fundimental expression of individual freedom just as angels and the cold white flame are expressions of group cohesion. “Do as thou wilt”, they do not think or behave as humans would by default. I can imagine a society with devils without the traditional bindings but they seem weirdly unremarkable
